The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been launched in India at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Know the on road prices here. It is available in the two variants -- Urbane and Premium. The top-spec model is Rs 15,000 more expensive than the base model. It will be sold via Probiking dealerships alongside KTMs and in the coming few weeks, Husqvarna will join this list as well. However, customers can book one on its official website as well. Deliveries for the Premium variant will begin from the end of February 2020 while the Urbane variant will commence by May 2020. The Chetak will hit showrooms in Pune, followed by Bengaluru.
The Chetak stands apart from other electric scooters thanks to the use of a metal bodywork instead of a fibre one. It gets all-LED lighting and a digital instrument console that shows vehicle speed, range and battery level. In addition, the Chetak gets keyless ignition.
It gets a 4kW electric motor with 2 riding modes: Eco and Sport. Bajaj claims the Chetak will offer a real-world range of 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode. It also gets a reverse mode.
The Chetak gets Vespa-like suspension setup in the form of a front trailing link suspension, and 12-inch alloy wheels fitted with MRF Zapper tyres. It gets a disc brake up front and a drum brake at the back. Bajaj claims the regenerative braking feature can add 2.8 metre of range every time a rider goes from 60-0kmph.
